 *Plone* presumes a web site created and maintained by a number of members (users) and groups. Initial drafts can be kept *private*, just for their authors, but later can be made *visible* to other members. Final drafts can be *submitted* for publication. If a designated reviewer agrees, he or she can mark material *published* at which point it becomes available to the browsing public, not just members of the site.

 *Plone* software is OpenSoftware. It's free for use and modification (not for resale). A variety of sites are based on *Plone* and modifications of *Plone*.
